Delayed throttle response may be related to the intake system. When the engine requires more air at higher revs, a restrictive intake path can limit airflow. An optimized intake system with a larger diameter can improve airflow and thereby contribute to a more direct throttle response.
Performance upgrades should not focus on just one component. The intake, air filter, exhaust system, and engine tuning should be coordinated as closely as possible. An optimized intake can help supply the engine with more air. On a Harley M8, a larger intake manifold is one possible addition, especially if other components of the intake system or tuning have already been modified.
