Dynamic Air Intake Vents for BMW E60 E61 2004-2009

Factory air ducts are "passive," meaning they require a vacuum to draw fresh air from the vents to the filters. If your factory box is intact, air scoops won’t do much for your car since the vacuum is strong enough to supply the filters with fresh air. If you decide to remove your factory box and upgrade to BMS or other open intakes, the "passive" air ducts won’t supply fresh air to the filters (no vacuum). Adding scoops with aftermarket intakes reduces the risk of heat soak and improves performance.

To convert factory air ducts from passive to active, air scoops are required (they redirect incoming air by 90 degrees).
